Into the Streets
Into the streets was a class I took at the University of Redlands where I attend college. During this month long course, I completed over 100 hours of service doing a variety of service projects. Our service projects ranged from helping out at Josephs Store House, to serving food at the Blessing Center, packaging food boxes at the Compassion Center in San Bernardino, working for 48 hours at the Wild Lands Conservancy racking, and weeding a beautiful new trail, organizing a clothing, and food drive for Angeles Closet, and painting two houses with Habitat for Humanity. All of these service projects tested not only my desire to wake up every day and do the work but, my ability to put other before myself, and really have compassion. My favorite of all of the projects we as a class completed, was the Relay for Life day. I ran 7 miles along-side some really great people and it was just an all around powerful day. This class taught me a great deal about myself and I just thought it was a great experience to share.
