Penguin Plunge for Special Olympics
In February 2012, I led 28 students and faculty members into the icy waters of Lake Memphramagog in Newport, Vermont. Why may you ask did we jump into the 32 degree waters..well, our area is trying to build a Special Olympics program for northern Vermont and we wanted to be a part of it!!
Throughout the entire month of January, I worked closely with students fundraising for the event. Fundraising activities including penguine costumes, a hat day, raffles, and even a "mock plunge," were teachers volunteered to be dunked in a water tank in the middle of winter!! It was great! We raised a total of $2,200.00 for our community and took the "Cool School Challenge" trophy!!
