City Mission
For a spring break trip, a group of 9 students and 2 chaperones from Misericordia University went to City Mission located in Schenectady, New York. This place is a homeless shelter for men, women, and children where it serves to help the individuals by providing them with necessities and important information to help the people regain their lives back. During our week long trip, we gave our time serving the residents there by working in the dining hall, cleaning the apartments, organizing the clothes at the distribution center, and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. After this trip, I felt I got more out of this experience than the actual individuals at City Mission. I realized that the people there are more than just homeless but human beings like everyone else. They became family to me and I shall never forget them. I never been happier than I have ever been giving my time at City Mission.
