Our AmeriCorps group was helping clean in preparation for renovations in a man's house, that had been deemed unlivable in it's current state. The house was nestled in a fairly nice community, but on the inside, was treacherous. The house had a number of serious issues, not the least of which was the inadequate, rotted floors, which one of us actually fell through. We had some serious fun helping this man out. It was eye opening in that he had served as a police chief, among other notable positions. In his weakened, elder state, his home had fallen in disrepair, and I'm so thankful that we were able to lend a hand to fill that gap.
