In this picture Jennifer Rogers, an Americorps member currently serving in St. Louis, works with two generations of families to create ornaments for the holidays.

"As an Americorps member I've had the privilege of teaching, playing, and learning from a group of teens who are considered at risk of because of the poverty and crime they face daily. In my role as a mentor I have seen the younger ones grow from shy, uncertain middle school students to confident, prepared high school freshman. I have witnessed the joy on their face as they realize that they are capable of positively changing their odds. My time in their life has been short, but I am proud to say that through my service I have secured better futures for them, their families, and their communities.” -Jennifer Rogers
