This is a photo of me helping a young volunteer to pull ice plant. Ice plant is an invasive weed (native to South Africa) that spreads very quickly across the California coast. It crowds out native plants and creates large areas where the only plant left is ice plant. Native wildlife and habitats depend on protecting our native plants. At our community events, we plant native plants, pull invasives, clean up trash, and educate our youth to create environmental stewards.
