Volunteering with Service Dogs!
At Stetson University, PAWS (Providing Animals with Service) is a student organization that volunteers with various animal shelters and organizations. This picture was taken at New Horizons Service Dogs in Orange City, FL. Volunteers were bathing one of the service dogs to make her look pretty for advanced training on the weekend. Volunteers not only bathe and groom, but also assist with training to help the dogs achieve their overarching goal of becoming a service dog for a disabled owner. Those who are eligible to receive a service dog from New Horizons include children with autism, those with physical disabilities, veterans with PTSD, and many more. Thanks to New Horizons, many individuals have regained their independence, felt more secure at home, and become more confident members of society.
